Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,
We had a fun Band Parent Meeting last Tuesday and I want to thank everyone who showed up and is enthusiastic about helping out! It’s always great to see familiar faces and it’s exciting to welcome new people to our group. I hope you learned a few things about what goes into getting a Marching Band on the field and are as excited about this year’s show as I am.

Tailgate Party on Friday
The Band Parents are hosting a Tailgate Party Potluck in the parking lot behind the food services area (17th Street side), this Friday before the first home Football Game. We will be setting up around 4:00 p.m. and serving the band at 5:00 p.m. Owen has created a Sign-up Sheet of what’s needed for helping hands and what’s needed for food. Please click over to the Sign-up Sheet and select something to bring and/or a task you can help with. And please feel free to join us at the party. Thanks.

March-a-thon Plan
The March-a-thon will be taking place on Saturday, September 28th. After rehearsal, they will take to the streets and march downtown to the Oregon Mutual parking lot where they will perform for the community (about 12:30 p.m.) After the show, they will march back to the high school and disband for the afternoon. Then at 6:00 p.m. in the evening, they will perform the full show at Wortman Stadium for parents and families.
Here’s the link to the NEW March-a-thon Flyer (thanks Jennifer!) that you can print and display prominently.
And here’s the link to the March-a-thon Pledge Form.

Bottles and Cans Collection Event
The Band will be collecting returnable bottles and cans on Saturday, September 28th. Parents can bring them when you come to watch the Band at 12:30 at the Oregon Mutual parking lot or to the school that evening at 6:00 p.m. (Parent Show in the stadium).
There is a fresh supply of blue Bottle Drop bags and labels available at Incahoots (905 NE Baker Street.) Feel free to drop by and grab what you need.
We are in need a crafty person to decorate recycling boxes for pop cans and bottles. We already have the boxes, but need lids with holes made. Reply to this email if that sounds like something you can help with.
And if you happen to have a place where the Band can store the bottles & cans while transportation is arranged to a Bottle Drop Center, please respond to this email and let us know. Thanks.

Uniformity
A big percentage of the kids got fitted for their uniforms after practice last Saturday. However, there are still about 20 students who need to do this and we will be setting up again on Tuesday evening to get this done. Please check with your kids to make sure that they get this taken care of.
It takes a lot of work to set everything up to fit the kids and we could once again use a few parents to help with this. Meet us at the band room at 5:30 if you are able help.

Act Now!
If you are planning on going to the competition in Grants Pass, book your room now. The Grants Pass Best Western Inn is holding 34 rooms for the Band, but they will not block out rooms for parents because there is a chance they will have another group there at the same time.
See you at the Tailgate Party,
