Marching Band Yearly Cost

Marching Band is expensive, but well worth every penny. The following information will give you an idea of just how much it costs. Obviously, there are instruments and equipment that can be used for many years, but the items on this list are not things that will carry over from year to year.

This Estimated Budget is based on 100 students and includes band camp, parades and 4 competitions.

Leadership retreat: $200.00

Marching Band Camp:

– 10 Meals x 100 students and 10 chaperones: $3300.00
– Instruction for guard and percussion: $2000.00
– Summer Dance Camp for Guard: $600.00 (based on 12 guard members)

Show/Competition expenses:

– Music: $2000.00
– Drill and show design: $1000.00
– Props: $1000.00
– Entry fees, 4 shows: $1400.00
– Meals, 4 shows: $2000.00 ($500 per show, 2 meals each day)
– Clinicians/instruction: $3000.00
– Transportation: $3000.00 (depending on competition locations)
– Overnight Accommodations: $3500.00 hotel/school (Grants Pass)

T-shirts: usually donated by local business – $0

Uniforms: cost per student about $25.00 x 100 students = $2500.00 (Cleaning – Repairs- Gloves – Shoes)
Guard costumes: $ 900.00
Flags: $ 400.00

Parades:
Starlight Parade: $400.00
Transportation: $0 so far school busses have been provided by the school
Snacks: $ 60 x 4 parades = $240.00 (water, ice pops or bar.)

Estimated Total Marching Show Cost: $27,440.00

Note: In addition, the Winter Arts Programs (Winter Guard, Winter Percussion) have their own budgets of $10,000 each.
