News – July 8, 2018

Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,

Whatever your connection to the Mac Band, there’s an activity for you coming up this week.

For the kids, there will be an Open Band Day on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Patton Middle School. All Mac Band members are encouraged to come meet with their sections and work on the music for the fall marching show. You can enter the school through the band room door.

For parents, our next Band Parent Meeting is this Tuesday, July 10th at 7:00 p.m. Since the High School is off limits for now, we are meeting in the Library at Grandhaven Elementary. Please enter through the main entrance.

And for our wonderful sponsors and the community, the “Get the Ball Rolling” fundraiser is on Saturday, July 14th at West Hills Neighborhood Park. Activities are from 12:30 to 1:30, and it’s a great park to bring a picnic.

I know of at least a few students who are doing really well with this fundraiser and earning money towards their band fee. If your student needs more sponsor forms, drop by Incahoots and we’ll get you everything you need. Incahoots is located at 905 NE Baker Street and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

There was a great turnout of Mac Band students and parents in Vancouver on Friday for the Drums of Fire show. It’s an inspiration to see what these groups of young musicians and performers can accomplish with just a few weeks of practice – rather intense practice, but still just a few weeks of it. Here’s a photo of the Oregon Crusaders performance and if your eyes are better than mine, you may be able to pick out a Mac Band member – she’s wearing a blue dress.

See you soon,
Brian Bailey
