Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,

The upcoming “Get the Ball Rolling” fundraiser on Saturday, July 14th is a great opportunity for students to earn money to go towards their marching band fee. Get someone to sponsor a ball for $5 and they have a chance to win a fabulous prize and the student gets to apply that $5 towards their marching band fee. So if they get 10 sponsors, they reduce their fee by $50! 20 balls sponsored = $100! Everyone benefits from this fundraising event!

Please encourage your student(s) to get as many sponsors for this as possible. It will make the event that much more fun and save you some money too! And if your student hasn’t gotten the information and sponsor form, please drop by Incahoots and we’ll get you everything you need. Incahoots is located at 905 NE Baker Street and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The event will also include an ice cream social to thank those who generously donated to the Rutherford Challenge.

This Friday the Oregon Crusaders will host and perform in Drums of Fire. This is Portland and the Willamette Valley’s premiere Drum Corps International (DCI) Event! Experience the full power and fury of drum corps at its finest… Featuring Santa Clara Vanguard, Oregon Crusaders, Blue Knights, Cascades and other corps from the West… some of the best marching music groups in the world. And this year, the Oregon Crusaders also includes a Mac Band member!

Open Band Day
This first Open Band Day is coming up on Tuesday, July 10th from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Patton Middle School. All Mac Band members are encouraged to come meet with their sections and work on the music for the fall marching show.

Band Parent Meeting
Our next Band Parent Meeting will be on Tuesday, July 10th at 7:00 p.m. Since the High School is off limits for now, we are planning on meeting in the Library at Grandhaven Elementary. We’ll be discussing adding a bit more structure to our group and start to plan our responsibilities for the fall Marching Show.

Leadership Retreat
All section leaders and drum majors should plan to attend this year’s Leadership Retreat on Friday, August 17th. The Oregon coast will be the destination for this day of learning, service, fun, and pizza.
