Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,
We need to know how many hours you have volunteered with the band since June 1st. The First Federal Community Rewards Program is still open and if we can submit our hours soon, we will be able to get a donation. So if you have volunteered any time at all since June 1st, please reply to this email ([email protected]) with your name and a summary of how many hours you have volunteered each month. Every little bit counts, so please reply by Wednesday, August 18th. Even better, do it just as soon as you finish reading this email. Thanks, and thank for volunteering.
‘New’ Band Trailer
The band now has its second trailer! Thanks to Collin for finding this, and some super nice band supporters for offering it to the band for an unbeatable price. It’s sure to be a huge asset to the band at competitions and other events. We haven’t measured it yet, but it looks to be around 25 to 29 feet long, has a ramp at the back, and comes with a generator. What we need to do now is get it cleaned and road ready. On Wednesday evening we will be gathering at Techtonics Tuning, 21801 Rock Creek Road in Sheridan to do some power washing, decal removing, and giving it a good once over. Bottle Drive
A big thank you to those who took some bags this last week. A member of the McMinnville Band Parent Organization will continue to be present by the trailer prior to the Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday practices for those who can take more bags. We are hoping to have the trailer empty before the next Bottle Drive on August 28. Here is a link for those who would like to volunteer for the next bottle drive. Bottle Drive Volunteer Sign Up Sheet
Bottle drop locations include: NEWBERG (Fred Meyer),
SALEM (various Bottle Drop locations) , TIGARD (Bottle Drop near Bull Mountain Road off Highway 99), WILSONVILLE (Safeway), MONMOUTH (Roths) or DALLAS (Safeway).
Upcoming Events
Our next parent meeting will be September 13, 2021, at 7:00pm. We will meet outside the band room door and then find a place to sit down. On the agenda will be meal and logistics preparations for the competitions in October.
We are planning a pregame family tailgate party for September 17 in the High School parking lot. In the past we have done this event pot luck style. More information will be given in next weeks e-mail. We have done this event in the past and it has been quite successful for the kids to have fun before the football game and for parents and band supporters to socialize before the season.
We will have another pregame tailgate party on October 7 where we will also invite band member alumni. The alumni will have the opportunity to play music in the stands during the game as well. It’s fun to watch who still has all the music memorized. More info to come in future e-mails.
