Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,
There is a new State of Oregon mandate designed to help protect our kids in K-12 schools that, in addition to teachers and staff, requires volunteers to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by October 18th. This applies to all our wonderful Mac Band volunteers, so if you haven’t yet been vaccinated, please consider doing so. You can read the complete article here.
Also, all volunteers must have a current Criminal History Verification Form on file with the district. They are valid for three years. You can pick one up at the school, or print a copy from the Mac Band website. When you have yours filled out, turn it in to the high school or district office. Here are the links to the forms:

Bottle Drive
The August Bottle and Can Drive is coming up this Saturday, August 28th. We’ll be in the Incahoots parking lot (905 NE Baker Street) from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Please bring by your returnable bottles and cans and maybe consider signing up to help out.

Where to Pay Band Fees
We’ve had a few questions about where to pay the Band fees this year. They are to be paid directly to the High School and I believe that you should be able to do this during registration, which is happening this week. The fee for this year is $200. NOTE: Students who have been with the band program for a while, may have a credit towards this year’s fee. Please check with the bookkeeper at the high school.
Upcoming Events
Our next parent meeting will be September 13, 2021, at 7:00pm. We will meet outside the band room door and then find a place to sit down. On the agenda will be meal and logistics preparations for the competitions in October…
We are planning a pre-game band member and family tailgate party on September 17 in the High School parking lot (back of the school, behind the new gym). We have done this event in the past and it has been quite successful for the kids to have fun before the football game and for parents and band supporters to socialize before the season. Please consider signing up to bring food and/or helping with setup and clean up. Here is the volunteer link:
We will have another pregame tailgate party on October 7 where we will also invite band member alumni. The alumni will have the opportunity to play music in the stands during the game as well. It’s fun to watch who still has all the music memorized. More info to come in future e-mails.
