Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,
The Band Parents have been challenged to get busy and raise funds to get the band on a solid financial foundation. William Rutherford, MHS Class of 1957 has generously offered to match all gifts to the Mac Band Program, up to a total of $15,000! All we have to do is ask friends, family, colleagues, bosses, or total strangers if they would like to make a donation. If each of us does a little, we can make this happen!
Click here for a pdf with more details about the challenge and about Mr. Rutherford. To make a donation online, go to the Mac Band website donation page.

Winter Guard Season Wraps Up
I was fortunate to be able to attend The NWAPA Guard Championships on Saturday to see the team finish up the season. They put on a beautiful performance and ended the season placing a very respectable seventh out of fourteen teams in their division.
Sitting right in the center on the second level, I had a great view of the performances by all the participating schools. I later figured out that that was also the place where, after helping the teams set-up, parent volunteers would dash to watch their teams compete and cheer them on. I expect the hearing in my right ear to return in a day or two.

17th Street Change
And if you haven’t been near the high school lately, changes are happening. You can no longer travel down 17th street from Evans and the part of the building where the band and choir rooms are located is blocked by a chain link fence. So strap on the Fitbits, everyone must now enter through the main entrance.
