Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,
The first competition of the season is coming up this Saturday, October 5th and it finally has a name. The Sherwood Fall Showcase will be held at Maxwell Field on the Linfield College Campus.
The schedule for the day looks like this:
8:00 a.m. The Mac Band trailer will depart for Linfield with Tents, Props, and odds and ends.
9:00 a.m. Band students will meet at the high school for a short rehearsal
9:45 a.m. (or so), the band students will go back home to get something to eat while the trailer gets loaded with instruments.
11:00 a.m. Band students meet at Linfield – our assigned location is the parking area for Nicholson Library at the end of Ford Drive. (Link to the map is below.)
12:36 p.m. Band performs in the preliminary round.
3:00 p.m. Parents will feed the band. Note: The band parents are only providing one meal at this competition. Students may want to bring snacks or money to buy concessions for later in the day. (Link to the menu is below.)
Depending on placement, the band will perform in the finals sometime between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. (Note: the Show Schedule will be updated after the preliminary round with the performance times for the finals. You might want to bookmark this page.)
After cleaning up and putting away instruments, the band will watch the remainder of the show and awards.
9:00 p.m. Show ends.
Since this competition is here in McMinnville, students may be tempted to leave the venue, but band members are required to stay with the band throughout the competition. Parents are welcome to sit with the band, but remember that everyone must have a wristband to enter the stadium. Admission is $15 per person. Children under 5 are free.

We need parent help to set up tents, get the band on and off the field, and help with the meal. Please check this Sign Up Sheet and add your name to the list of awesome parents who go the extra mile to support the band.
March-a-thon and 2 Shows
Saturday’s March-a-thon and performances were a great success. The band got a chance to play for the community in the afternoon, for their families in the evening, and also raised some money.
Students should now collect all money pledged and turn it in at Tuesday’s rehearsal. A parent volunteer will be on hand.
If you haven’t yet paid your Fair Share fee, Jamie (Students Accounts) suggests you get back on track with this new payment schedule: October 1st – $100, November 1st – $100, December 1st – $50. You’ll be all done in just a few months and the band will be able to pay it’s obligations! Here’s the link to the Fair Share payments page.
Also, if your student received a new pair of Dinkles and you need to make the $35 payment for them, you can do so on the Fair Share payments page as well. Just make a note in the comments section with your student’s name and that the payment is for Dinkles. Thanks!
Marching Band Rehearsal – Tuesday, October 1st, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Grizzfest – Wednesday, October 2nd. Among other groups, the Jazz Band will perform at 6:40 p.m. and the Marching Band will perform at 7:45 p.m. I believe that this event will be taking place around the main entrance to the high school.
Marching Band Rehearsal – Thursday, October 3rd, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Sherwood Fall Showcase – Saturday, October 5th, All Day. See schedule above.
Band Parent Meeting – Tuesday, October 8th, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the MHS Library
Pride of the Northwest – Saturday, October 12th, All Day in Grants Pass. Band will stay overnight and return on Sunday.
