News – October 11, 2018

Greetings Mac Band Parents and Supporters,

This Saturday, October 13th, the Mac Band will be traveling to Grants Pass for the second competition of the season – Pride of the NorthWest. Here are some things you should know,:

The band will have an extra practice on Friday from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. and we will load the trailer after that.

In Grants Pass, the band will perform rain or shine, and the current forecast says sunny and 78 degrees.

I haven’t seen information about wristbands yet, but the usual is that anyone watching the show or helping get the band on the field must have one. We will determine how many we need to purchase once we have a count of how many volunteers we have.

Here are the really useful links for the Pride of the NorthWest Competition:

On Saturday morning, students should arrive at the high school at 5:45 a.m. – buses will leave at 6:00 a.m. Estimated time of arrival in Grants Pass is about 11:30 a.m. (If possible, the band will first stop at the hotel to unload luggage.) After arriving at Grants Pass High School, they will have lunch, warm-up, and then perform in the preliminary round at 2:17 p.m. Finals begin at 5:15 p.m. and after the band performs they will have dinner and then watch the rest of the competition. About 9:00 p.m. the band will go to the hotel.

On Sunday morning, they will have breakfast at the hotel, pack up and board the buses. We estimate the band will be back in McMinnville around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.

Band Parents will be providing snacks for the bus ride there, lunch after the band arrives at Grants Pass high School, and dinner after the band’s final performance. On Sunday, there will be breakfast at the hotel and snacks will be provided for the bus ride back to McMinnville.

Souvenirs will be available for purchase. There will also be food carts behind the stadium – see the General Information link above for more details.

Uniforms will be transported in the trailer. All Band members must bring their marching shoes with them on the bus. They should wear all black socks, crew length or longer.

Spandex or sport shorts for under bibbers. No jeans or bulky clothes. T-shirts or long sleeve undershirts for under the uniform top. Not too bulky. For those who wear them, remember your gloves.
