Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,
Happy Marching Music Day!
In honor of dedicated musicians and performers of many diverse styles and backgrounds, Marching Music Day celebrates all varieties of the art forms bringing us “music on the move.” Drum Corps International founded Marching Music Day to celebrate and share marching music as an engaging and ever-expanding art form around the world, and to help celebrate Music In Our Schools Month. The registrar at National Day Calendar declared the day to #MarchForth into celebration annually, beginning in 2017.
Sounds like a perfect day to browse the Youtube and watch some marching videos. If you need a good place to start, check out “Tilt” the 2014 Bluecoats show.

Another Successful Fundraiser
A big shout out to the many student and parent volunteers who helped in the concession booth yesterday and also helped clean up the school after the show! With your help, we were able to raise over $650 to help support the Mac Band.

Pie Sale
You still have time to get your orders in for the annual Pi Day Pie Sale. Your purchase of delicious Blue Raeven pies will help will help band students earn money to offset upcoming expenses (like Marching Band). Orders need to be turned in by March 7th. Band Parent Meeting
The next Band Parent Meeting is coming up this Tuesday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school band room. (Note: this is one week earlier than our usual meeting night.)
Believe it or not, we will begin discussing the summer and next fall, etc.

Roby’s Furniture Opening
On Saturday, March 10th, the MAC BAND will perform during the Grand Opening of Roby’s Furniture. Please note that the time time I mentioned last week was just a bit off. Reliable sources say the event begins at 10:00 am. It is expected that there will be local media coverage so the band should get some great exposure. Roby’s will also be conducting a silent auction which will benefit the band.

McMenamins Friends and Family Night
(Thanks to an astute reader for noticing that I totally forgot to mention the date and time of this fundraiser last week.)
Friends and Family Night is coming up on Tuesday, March 13th from 5:00 pm until close at McMenamins Hotel Oregon. The MHS Jazz Band will be performing at 7:00 pm, so it’s going to be a great evening. Bring everyone you know out for burgers, beers, wine, cocktails, salads, sandwiches, tater tots, the day’s specials and more – because at the end of the night, 50% of the evening’s total sales are donated to the Mac Band! The more you order, the more is earned for a good cause!
