News – June 9, 2019

Greetings Band Parents and Mac Band Supporters,

Our next Band Parent Meeting is coming up this Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. in the Freshman Den at the High School. Please join us as we discuss what’s up for the Mac Band over the summer, what’s up for us band parents over the summer, and ideas for Band Camp and the next school year.

Fair Share Due

Did you remember that last Friday, June 7th, was the due date for the first of the Fair Share Band payments? If you missed it, the first payment is $50 and you can pay that on the Mac Band website by clicking right here.

Leading the Way

Nominations are now being accepted for Officers for the McMinnville Band Parent Organization for the 2019-2020 school year. Nominations will be accepted until July 6, 2019 and voting will be available to the general membership through an online service from July 7th through 13th.

Please send your nominations to with the name of the nominee and the position you are nominating them for – President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer. (And yes, you can nominate yourself!)

For more information, please see the MBPO Standing Rules with the position descriptions and duties of each officer.

A Fun Finish to the Year

The band concert season wrapped up last Tuesday, but I probably don’t need to tell you that since you were likely in the audience. The Jazz Band got the evening started and after a bit of shuffling chairs, music stands, and students, the combined Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and 8th Grade Players from both Duniway and Patton squeezed onto the stage and played a set of fun compositions. It’s great to hear a band of that size, they really put out a big sound.

Taking a Break

It’s been a crazy busy spring and the decision has been made to give the band a little break before things start up again in August. So unless something surprising happens, the word is that the band will NOT be participating in the Carlton Fun Days parade this year. That’s sad news for parade goers, but a bit of good news for percussionists who want to attend the ‘Hands’ Percussion Camp which is scheduled for the same day. (see below)

New “Believer” T-shirts!

The new Band Parent “Believer” T-shirts are available now and  you can order yours from the MacBand website. Place your order here and I’ll deliver it to you at the meeting on Tuesday. Or, if you prefer to pay in cash or by check, I’ll bring the whole box of shirts to the meeting and you can get yours there.
