Parent Volunteers are needed to help the Mac Band Loading Crew!
We have hired professional drivers to move the big rig. What we need help with is moving the equipment from the truck to the stadium and to the field at half time then back to the trailer. The students take care of the heavy lifting for the most part and getting the equiprement on and off the trailer.
As a member of the loading crew you will get into the game for free. You will be expected to help move the equipment to the sidelines for the halftime performance and then off again afterwards. But during the performance you are welcome to return to the stands to watch the show, just be back down on the field afterwards to move the equipment off.
We need at least 8 parents that can dedicate themselves to the majority of the games and contests and an additional 8 to 12 that can be oncall.
If you want to get a feel for what the duties entail, then please join us Friday, August 27th, between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM by the Big Blue Trailer parked on the Mac Band Field. If you can't make it to school in time, just meet us by the Big Blue Trailer at Heroes Stadium on the Home side around 6:00 PM.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brian Taylor at 210-410-6397 or Bill Basse at 210-885-5147 or by email at

MAC BAND HONORS BRUCE SMITH
|
Students and parents of the Mac band came together on Monday, May 3, 2010 to honor Bruce Smith. Mr. Smith, former Macarthur band wagon master, served the band for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years. In addition to his service, Mr. Smith went above and beyond to help the band. He is responsible for finding what is known today as the “big blue trailer”. Mr. Smith put in many hours of hard work building out the inside of the trailer making compartments to hold all the band equipment securely. Without this trailer it would be impossible for the band to get all the instruments and equipment to football games and marching events.
The right rear door of the trailer now bears a dedication to Mr. Smith for his years of service, commitment, and love for the MacArthur High School Band. He has made a valuable contribution to the band program that will be utilized gratefully for many years to come.

There will be a benefit for Bruce who will be having a bone marrow transplant. The benefit will take place on Saturday, September 18 from 11am-4pm. BBQ chicken and sausage plates will be sold for $6.00 each and desserts will be available to purchase as well. Raffle tickets will also be available for donated items.
You MUST order in advance. Please contact Lynette at 545-6358 and let her know how many tickets you would like to purchase. Brian Smith will deliver the tickets and pick up the monies from you. IF you cannot attend, but would like to give a donation, that would be great too!
