Chaperones
Why do we need chaperones?
Each year a core group of volunteers work as chaperones for all band events such as football games and contests. This helps the kids and adults recognize each other, feel comfortable in asking for help, and makes check-in procedures run smoothly. However, additional chaperones are needed throughout the year when core group members are unavailable. We do need female and male chaperones to assist students.
What would I do as a chaperone?
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to departure to prepare and load ice chests, pick up bus list, ensure the bus is clean, post bus signs, perform uniform inspections and check in students.
- Chaperones MUST be physically able to assist with loading and lifting ice chests.
- Remind students of NEISD bus policies and rules.
- Check bus for articles that are left upon arrival.
- Assist with unloading and passing out of water.
- Sit in assigned area, assist with student behavior and needs of students.
- Remain in stands during half time to watch equipment and remove empty water bottles.
- At the end of the game, make sure stands are clear of trash, equipment and personal belongings.
- Check students onto bus for ride back to Mac.
- Upon return to Mac, check buses for trash or other equipment.
- Unload and drain ice chests.How do I become a chaperone?·
