Born into a military family in Wichita, KS Mr. Younts has lived all over the U.S. and in Germany. He moved to TX in the summer 1989 and is a proud 1997 graduate of Round Rock High School in Round Rock, TX. While at RRHS, Mr. Younts participated in the RRHS Band program, under the direction of Gary Wylie, and was a Drum Major for the 1996 – 1997 season.

Mr. Younts attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with an emphasis on Deaf Education. While at UT – Austin, Mr. Younts was in The Longhorn Band (1997 – 1999) as a member of the Tenor Saxophone section. While participating in LHB, he was an officer of the Student Association, Band Camp Counselor, and Delta Gamma Eta member.

After graduating from UT – Austin in December 2001, Mr. Younts was employed by non-profits for a couple of years as a Grant Writer and Researcher, Grant Monitor, and Executive Assistant. Mr. Younts joined the Faculty of W.C. Akins HS in Austin, TX in 2004 and taught American Sign Language until the Spring of 2006. While at Akins, Mr. Younts also served as Visual Technician for the Marching Band, which was 1st alternate to the 5A State Marching Contest in 2004 and finalist participant at numerous contests throughout the State. Mr. Younts also served as Visual Coordinator for the Akins Indoor Percussion Ensemble, 2005 and 2006 seasons, responsible for designing and teaching the visual components of the Ensemble’s show. The 2006 season resulted in two TCGC Regional Contest Championships and culminated in a 3rd Place finish in the Scholastic A class of the TCGC State Competition. This past summer Mr. Younts was on the staff of the DCI group, Memphis Sound.

Mr. Younts has also participated as a counselor for numerous other youth programs, including 8 years of service the American Legion, Department of Texas Boys State Program.

Mr. Younts relocated to San Antonio, TX in July 2006 to further his Music Education at University of Texas – San Antonio.
